This Honeywell SV9501M2528 gas control valve has gained the nickname "smart valve" because it not only communicates with the Draft Inducer, and Control board but also controls the hot surface ignitor. The most common Hot surface Ignitor used on this Gas Control Valve is the 24 volt Honeywell Q3400A1024. To replace this part, cut the power to the Furnace, unplug both wire harnesses, unscrew the intermitent pilot tube, and unscrew the pipe connection in and out. when replacing make sure the correct spring is in place whether you are using Natural Gas or Propane. The propane spring will have a red hue. Re-pipe gas in and out, replace pilot tubing breakaway fitting, plug both wire harnesses back in and turn furnace power back on. This Honeywell Gas Control Valve can be used in place of a number of other Gas Controls.
