My tyco 218 valve has the bleeder screw open and my furnace technician didn’t close it should I.
This valve is in line from furnace to indirect water heaters from boiler supply line.
Thank you D.C.
Howdy! Thank you for posting your query about the Taco 218-3 valve. The bleeder screw on this valve being open indicates that there may be air trapped inside the valve or the system. It is generally recommended to close the bleeder screw to prevent air from entering or escaping the system. In your situation, since the bleeder screw was left open by the furnace technician, it would be advisable to close it. Closing the bleeder screw can help ensure proper operation of the valve and prevent air from entering the system, which can affect the performance of the furnace and indirect water heaters.
However, please note that without inspecting the specific setup and considering other factors, it's difficult to provide a definitive answer. If you have any concerns or doubts, it's best to consult with your local professional HVAC technician, who can assess your system and provide appropriate advice and guidance based on the specific circumstances.
