1/8 x 8 inch Red Rubber Gasket Ring. This particular part is a Red Rubber Gasket for use with Ductile Iron Pipe applications. The gasket has a 8 inch nominal dimension size along with a 1/8 inch thickness. A gasket is an important component for ductile iron pipe connections in that it acts as an air/water tight seal. The gasket is placed between two ends of ductile iron pipe, most commonly pipe that has mechanical joint connections. When the two ends of the pipe are secured together via nuts and bolts, the gasket is also compressed taking any extra air gaps by sealing them up.
