What gauge wire is recommond for this item?

You may use 4- to 18-gauge wires depending on the water pressure and the distance between the controller and the Rain Bird 100DVF valves that come with this setup. Does the orbit valve base / box come with a cover/lid? Yes, great, if not how do you buy a lid

Mine came with an Orbit base, but a RainBird box. These do not fit together.

what specific Orbit valve box is shipped with this item?

While they may have shipped Orbit boxes at one point, they did not on my order. They shipped an Orbit base and a RainBird box which do not really fit together. Supply chain problems seems to be causing PlumbersStock to substitute parts, but you get to deal with the problems.
