Please follow these steps to repair and replace the flapper: (1) Drain the toilet: close the shut-off valve then remove the top of the tank. You will need to hold down the lever to make sure that the tank is fully drained. (2) Remove the flapper by sliding the left and right tabs from the overflow tube then disconnect the chain from the toilet handle arm. You will also need to clean the valve seat with a sponge or a cloth to remove any bacterial growth. If there are breaks, the new flapper might not sit properly. We hope this helps. I spoke with a Western Pottery Toilet representative. Said the originals (part plastic, part rubber) need to be cut off with an Xacto Knife (razor) or wire cutters. The new ones, because they are all rubber, will then slide over the flaps. I have ordered these and they are taking a while to ship. The company site says these design updates are not available until June which may be the cause of the long delays. Who would have thought that getting a flapper would be so difficult.

Tabs cannot be removed by sliding the left and right tabs. The end of the plastic holder is too large

I had to cut them off and replaced it with a universal flapper.
