Having, until the last few years, performed our household plumbing repairs and installations, I am familiar with the process. This was the first of this type of faucet that our plumber had seen and installed, which was about two weeks ago. Therefore, his effort seemed to require a bit more effort and time than I would expect of an average kitchen faucet installation, but it went smoothly. I was happy to pay the young man to twist himself under our deep sink in order to perform this installation.

So very happy we waited completing our sink install for the release of the Moen Motion Sense Faucet. My Brother-In-Law who has plumbing experience did the installation. Our sink base is only 27", a 9" deep D shaped sink,and a pullout trash pail slider.Since we had a standard depth counter top the faucet needed to be installed on the right side instead of the center.There was plenty of room to fit the control box and battery pack in our small space. I can even reach the temperature controls if I need to.. Moen has an Installation video on you tube,it was that easy. The written directions were also easy to follow, just keep the feed valves closed until you connect the sensor. We have been using it for about a week now. The wave sensor works great. Turns on and off with no delay. We set the temperature for the Wave Sensor to warm for washing hands and soaking dishes. Working out just fine. The Ready Sensor was a little too sensitive for our every day use(we have no kids that can't reach the Wave sensor),and it runs for about 4 seconds after you clear the sensor. We easily disabled the Ready Sensor (turn on faucet by the handle,hold hand over Wave Sensor for 5 seconds and shazaam! its disabled. To turn it back on, do the same process. very easy) I do use the Ready Sensor when I am preparing food and want to wash my dripping, contaminated hands. Just hold hands infront of Ready Sensor, wash hands,walk away and the few extra seconds the water remains on rinses the sink clear. I did order the AC adapter from Moen since we have electricity under the sink. Will save on batteries once installed. Love this Faucet and looks great in our newly renovated Kitchen

Had a Delta Touch 2O faucet in the kitchen of our previous home and really liked it. It had a few quirks when water was splashed around the base of the spout. We recently moved to a new home and the kitchen needed a new faucet and I was intrigued with the motion sensors used on the Moen MotionSense. Installation was straight forward, instructions are reasonably clear, took me about two hours start to finish and everything worked. But I was not totally happy. If you turn the faucet ON with the sensors you get FULL flow, and no way to adjust it. So I had quite a few splashes whenever I was attempting to rinse out a cup. The lower sensor activates (as I guess it should) every time you put something into the sink. So I deactivated it. No problem. All was good until about 4 weeks after the install, when the top sensor stopped working. The blue light in the spout comes on, but no water flows. With the upper sensor dead there is no way to reset the lower sensor. I went through the diagnostic (unplug the battery pack, wait, plug it back in, and watch the diagnostic LED Morse code) and it ~implies~ that the spout is bad. I say 'implies' because the manual says '3 quick flashes' indicates a failed spout, but I'm counting 5 (or 6?) flashes. Next step is calling Moen customer support to see what they have to say. All in all, I might spend the dollars and go back to the Delta Touch2O depending on how Moen customer support responds. Not angry, I like the technology, I'm just seriously disappointed.

We have had our MotionSense faucet for almost 4 months. We have had some problems with the motion sensors and have disabled the lower one. It is too touchy and goes off as you are working around the sink but not needing it to be on. The top sensor gives us the benefits of motion activation without going off unexpectedly. But I commend Moen on the well thought out design for the fact that you can easily disable either or both sensors per your preference. The problems we've had are that the sensors stop working. But Moen has been very good to deal with and sent us a new control unit right away at no cost. It seems to be working fine now. Another problem we had was very low water pressure. I called Moen and they said that is the new standard. What they didn't know and I only found out when I was installing the new control box, the original contractor had mounted a hose retainer resulting in a kink in the main hose to the faucet. Once I fixed that the flow is much improved and now totally acceptable. The spot free stainless is great as well. It cleans easily and shows few spots day to day. The only complaint I have now and it's minor, is that we wish the angle of the faucet pointed out into the sink a little more.
