To connect the pipe and fittings, a process called solvent welding is required. This process involves using both CPVC glue and primer. CPVC pipe has a smooth, glaze-like finish; the primer removes this glaze, ensuring a proper bond between the pipe and fittings. Failure to use primer can result in cracks or breaks in CPVC connections.
