will it damage the pump if it takes 2 or 3 minutes to prime itself

Hi !!! I have BE-S50 sewage or effluent pump from littlegiants today suddenly it makes loud noise and was tooo hot so I turned it off so can you please let me know what causes it and what I can do next? Please
Hello, there! Thank you for posting a query about the Little Giant 621815 effluent pump. We apologize to hear that your pump has started making loud noises and overheating. There are a few reasons for this, including impeller or shaft damage or air in the system. Check the impeller and shaft for visible damage, such as cracks, breaks, or bent blades. If you notice any damage, replace the impeller or shaft as necessary. However, if the problem is air has entered the pump system, turn off the power to the pump. Then, drain the pump tank and remove any standing water. Next, place the pump vertically with the impeller facing down. Lastly, turn on the power to the pump and let it run until all the air is removed. Once the pump runs smoothly, turn off the power and refill the tank with water. If the issue persists, we recommend contacting a qualified professional for assistance. We hope this helps. Thank you for trusting PlumbersStock. Enjoy the rest of your day!
