Works as designed! Rated 4 by BA66
  Yes, I recommend this product.
I would have liked to seen some larger tips for larger pipes. I replaced another unit that died after many years. It came with a variety of tips and 2 larger tips for larger pipes. They made fast work of our clogged/blocked drain pipes. The medium tip worked and cleared our blockage but would have felt better using a larger tip, clearing a larger circumference. Ran smoothly and cleared the blockage without issue. Still need to completely put it all together because I purchased in an emergency! I guess I'll be looking for some larger tips! Could not rate durability because I just purchased it, only time will tell about durability!

I bought this machine to clean several 30 year old landscape drains that were clogged with dirt and some smaller roots. The machine did a great job. for this work I recommend the 75' 1/2" cable (vs the lighter 3/8" cable for cleaning indoor drains). Most of the actual clearing was done using the 1-3/8" C cutter. The spiral bulb cutter was useless for this work. If would grab the roots and then permanently deform. Cleaning the drains took a while, but I had very good results just letting the machine cut at it's own speed vs trying to force the cutter head. I had no problems removing small (less that 1/2") roots. Again, you need to let the machine cut and not try force it.

Professional Quality for the DIYer Rated 5 by itisitis

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Ridgid K-400. I wanted a solid, reliable drain snake that wouldn't give me more problems that it solved (like a lot of cheaper models). The K-400 is a well-designed, quality machine. Although it costs more than its overseas cousins, it is well worth it. Be sure to watch the video on operation and safety. I took it slow and easy and cleared 4 drains (all with roots). Granted, they were not major roots and the K-400 specifically says "not for roots," but it worked like a charm - SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. I had some difficulty gauging the length of the cable so I painted color bars on it every 15 feet. This machine will outlast me. Well done, Ridgid.

Does the job Rated 5 by Mike13
  Yes, I recommend this product.
Our 2 in. pipe drain for the washing machine/kitchen sink was draining very slowly and backing up. For little more cost than calling a plumber out to come snake it, I purchased this machine so I'd be able to clear it out in the future as well. Feeding it manually took some elbow grease and two passes with the spiral bulb attachment about 40ft into the pipe to get the hair/grease clog out. Followed that up with a pass of the spade bit all the way through the pipe to clean it out and it's now running clear with no problems. All in all, it took a little over an hour.
