This particular fitting is a Tee Fitting for Ductile Iron Pipe applications that features Mechanical Joint and Flange connections. A tee is an important fitting as it is used in order to connect three sections of iron pipes allowing you to connect two different pipes into one. The fitting gets its Tee name from its shape as it resembles the letter “T”. All three of the connections on the tee fitting measure 4 inches nominal size, making it for use with 4 inch Ductile Iron Pipe. If you were to look at this tee head on in a “T” shape the connections on either side are mechanical joint connections and the middle connection is a flange connection.
