Should I used pipe thread sealant with this fitting?
Hi, there! Thank you for your interest in our HDPE 200 compression coupling. Yes, it is recommended to use pipe thread sealant when fitting pipes. You can either use a pipe thread tape (also called Teflon tape), a pipe dope which uses solvents or anaerobic resin compounds which don't use solvents. Each of these thread sealant types has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, the Teflon tape can be quickly and easily applied without a mess, but because of its thinness, it is prone to tearing. Pipe dopes are cheap, relatively easy to apply and are compatible with almost any material, but solvent-based pipe dopes lose effectiveness over time from heat aging Anaerobic resin compounds can fill the spaces between pipe threads, but due to its specialized formula, may not be compatible with certain materials. You can check out here for our list of pipe sealants. Thank you and have a great day!

Can this be used to connect two 3/4 black poly lines (potable)
These particular couplers are for High Density polyurethane pipe. There are a couple of different types of pipe that are black. Some that take inserts to connect them, and others that take this kind of fitting. Unless you know exactly what kind of pipe you have, we would be hard pressed to recommend the fitting needed in your circumstances.
