Thank you for reaching out to PlumbersStock. If the inside of the valve body has corroded, you can use Emory cloth or just sandpaper to smooth the metal. The rubber disk does not usually touch the sides of the valve body unless there is quite a bit of build-up so it may not be necessary. In most cases when the valve stops cycling reliably, it is due to a worn spring in the plastic stem. Hope this helps.
