The RIDGID 74863 is an organic mineral resin that has two parts when combined, form a leak-proof seal in broken pipes. To start the wet-out and curing processes, simply combine parts A (activater/hardener) and B (base resin) then shake. This has an approximated curing time of 90 minutes at 65 degrees Fahrenheit when working with a 32-inch patch.

If however you are going to be working under ground you would be better off to buy a repair coupling like this one that can be slid over the pipe far enough to allow the other end in and then slid back onto that. Either way you will want to make sure that both the coupling and pipe is dry and free of any foreign contaminants that may hinder the optimal effectiveness of the PVC cement before attaching your pieces together. Apply PVC primer to insure the best seal possible followed by a liberal amount of glue. Each time you glue fittings together remember to firmly hold the pieces together for 30 seconds to minimize the potential for leaks. Hi, Thanks for visiting PlumbersStock.com! No. This PVC cement cannot be used to fix leaks AROUND the coupling. It can however be used to create a secure seal on a new coupling if so desired. You will need to remove the old leaking coupling from the pipe with a pair of Ratchet Sheers or a saw of some kind. Turn off the water before removing the old coupling. If you are working above ground we recommend a Kwik repair coupling of some kindto replace the leaking coupler. A repair coupling like this has a telescoping feature that allows for quick and easy replacement.
