You need to unscrew the filter plug and remove it from the water heater then remove the filter by sliding it off the plug. After that, you can go ahead and take a rag, brush, or crevice tool and clean out any debris that's inside the filter. Running water through this will also work. Thank you for choosing PlumbersStock. However, in the event of a power interruption, the unit will retain its set temperature for up to 6 hours. During power interruptions of more than 6 hours, the unit will revert back to a temperature of 104°F.
