Hola! Thank you for your question about the 3" ABS pipe. Yes, you can use this pipe as a lamp post sleeve, but there are some important considerations. ABS pipe is lightweight, easy to cut, and offers some UV resistance—more than PVC—making it a workable option for short-term or decorative applications where the pipe serves only as a sleeve or guide, not structural support. However, it's not rated for load-bearing use, and over time, exposure to sunlight and temperature fluctuations can cause it to become brittle or crack, especially in colder climates. Additionally, it won’t meet code requirements for permanent electrical installations. If you’re just using it to help align a small landscape or solar lamp post, it can work if properly sealed and not subject to stress. For more permanent or high-load installations, it's better to use schedule 40 or 80 PVC conduit, galvanized steel, or HDPE sleeves designed for outdoor structural use. We hope this helps.
