About the Ridgid 69642

Save on the Ridgid Model 12 Peddinghaus Forged Anvil here at PlumbersStock. Peddinghaus anvils like this are known industry wide for both craftsmanship and quality. This Drop-forged Anvil is produced entirely from High grade Steel for maximum durability and is not "Bottom Cast" but fully forged and hand welded.

What is dropped forged? Drop forging is a process that uses heat and intense pressure to press metal into a specific shape. This process has been around for ages and has been time tested to be extremely durable.  Unlike Casting (the process of melting ore and pouring into a pre-built mold), forged products yield a higher tensile strength (strength with less weight), have a higher  fatigue strength (longer life), and also has a more durable yield strength (takes longer to deform).

With a 12" Face length and a 8-1/2"  horn  and a wide base for added stability, this Rigid Anvil is the perfect size for larger products. The top Face is ground and Induction hardened as well as tempered to resist the blows of the user's hammer. This helps to keep the face from deforming under repeated use. Unlike a square edge  that is more likely to break and chip away, the face of this Ridged Peddinghaus anvil has rounded edges to ensure durability strike after strike.

This Model 12 Forged Anvil comes equipped with a pritchel hole for hole punching and a square Hardie Hole (Hardy Hole) to support the use of various forming and cutting  tools. An upsetting block for even more stability during use is added to this model and, like other Peddinghaus Anvils by Ridged, this model 12has a rounded horn of unhardened steel for "drawing down stock? (Making it longer and thinner) or a multiple of bending operations as  well as a soft step to prevent damage to the steel face when cutting tools are used.

"I bought this as my shop anvil. This bad boy will be in service long after I am dead and gone. The rebound is excellent and it rings like a church bell. It is worth the money."

"I like the anvil, it arrived as described with no visible flaws. This is a lifetime tool. The item was back ordered, which I was not informed of. Other than that issue, a good experience overall."
